Information for Visitors:
Gallows Hill Artists, Salem’s collective artist space, is housed in a historic former tannery building in Salem’s Gallows Hill neighborhood, where original post and beam interiors evoke the spirit of its factory roots. Just steps from Proctor’s Ledge—the infamous site of the 1692 hangings—the building was constructed around 1900 as The Arthur J Mulholland Company, one of Salem’s great tanneries and a rare survivor of the Great Salem Fire of 1914.

Gallows Hill Artists is located on the third and fourth floors at 16 Proctor Street in Salem MA. This event will take place on the third floor only.
Please note that we do not have a passenger elevator; access to our studios requires climbing stairs. If you have accessibility needs or questions, we encourage you to contact us in advance so we can assist you in our freight elevator and help make your visit as comfortable as possible.
Parking is available in our lot on Proctor Street just a short walk from the building. Additional parking is available at Gallows Hill Park and the former Walgreens on Boston St. Please park responsibly with respect for our neighbors and local parking laws.
