As a self-taught artist who has painted for most of his life, John has developed skills through trial-and-error, and techniques through experimentation.  He photographically documents what inspires him and then express on canvas in oils, often subtly re-arranging the scenery in order to best accentuate what it is about it that moves him.
John recently completed his first mural, which is a portrayal of the old Salem Depot, currently on display on Peabody Street, in Salem.
He sees the world around him as an intricate 3-dimensional maze of shapes and colors that meld themselves into fascinating, geometric land- or city-scapes.
John lives in Salem, MA with my his, Deborah Greel, in a small Victorian home filled with artwork, books, model trains, our ratty little dog, lots of love and no television.
