Megan McGough Christian is an artist, historian and creative professional focusing on ceramics and sculpture. Building on a lifelong love of storytelling, they enjoy exploring narratives and characters regardless of media or medium.
Since picking up ceramics in 2019, they have focused on sculptural works fired in reduction. Atmospheric firing is a particular love and most works are fired in the soda kiln. Current work reflects an interest in deconstructing the body to represent themes of connection and disconnection of the self, exploring loss, identity and community. Their work often reflects a love for the weird and fantastical.
Megan is an independent artist at the Ceramics Program at Harvard University in Allston, MA. They participate in the twice-yearly Show & Sale to support this unique studio.
In 2024 Megan was selected to assist at the Peabody Essex Museum in facilitating a community collaboration with PEM Award recipient Marie Watt, creating the work Sky Dances Light (Companions). Working with the Peabody Essex Museum and Marie was an absolute honor.
Professional highlights include serving as Director of Post Production for the award-winning PBS series FRONTLINE. Megan was Head of Post Production for the Academy Award® winning documentary 20 Days in Mariupol (2023). Megan holds a Master of Arts in History.
Living in Salem, MA with a human child, a cat child, and extended family, Megan loves being embedded in art and community.
