Craig Robertson is a seasoned oil painter and scratchboard artist based in Boston. With over 50 years of experience, he brings a wide range of techniques to his work. Although Craig specializes in figurative art, his pieces go beyond the traditional understanding of this genre, often times turning what we expect on its head. By exploring the boundaries of shape, subject, composition, gravity, balance, frozen movement, and color, Craig's art is both experimental and captivating. He continues to push himself to discover new ways to express himself through his art.
His extensive experience as a painter, graphic designer, patent drafter, and muralist is primarily self-taught, with one year of college education, and has worked in various studios, including three at Brickbottom Artist’s Studios in Somerville, MA. His artistic skills span multiple mediums, including oil painting, encaustic, egg tempera, watercolor, acrylic, sculpture, digital drawing, and printmaking.
Notable projects include murals for the Somerville Public Library, U4ia nightclub in Cleveland, and Hank’s Cafe in Cleveland, as well as silk screen designs for Home Depot. His exhibitions range from Salem Arts Association in 2025 to Tremont Art Walk in 2000. He received a grant from the Somerville Arts Council for a mural design at the Somerville Library.
